Nor did I.

I went to the HiPoint sight and did a lot of reading. Thinking and decided to buy one.

Was at the range today and ran a few more rounds through it. And as before, it fed every round down range without issue.

As before, cost a lot? no. Work like they are supposed to? yes.

Trust the gun to protect me? yes. Just like all my other guns. If I did not trust it to protect me I would not own it still.

Hi point would make a good bug out pistol.  If you had to ditch it, no big loss  They are relieable look like a glock and choice of American Bangers. What more could you ask for.

Serious a pistol  4 mags and 100 rounds of 9mm Takes up little room and throw away or hide  if needed

Yah, your right never owned one, but have fired one belonging to a friend.  It did go bang.  I found the trigger rough and was not fond of the blowback action and stiff slide.  That is probably the same reason I found it a little top heavy for my balance.  I can't see the unit as an EDC as I found it a little bulky.  Down the hallway at 3:00 AM I'm with you, but I would still reach for my 1911 first.  Sorry to come off snobby, I generally like any gun.

I agree that the trigger on a HP is not as fine, lite, easy as what you would find even on a stock milspec 1911 but they are not bad either.
At the range last weekend. We were shooting a KelTek P32, Walther P22 and the HP C9.
All guns properly sighted and working properly. But the HP C9 was the gun that everyone shot most accurately with.

The blowback operation of the HP was different but I try to look at it like this. If you can learn to shoot a HP and be very accurate with it, it will greatly help your accuracy with a locked breach or one of the rotating locking barrel designs. If you have learned to lock your wrist to keep the blowback action working properly it will also help keep the barrel down helping you  in a faster recovery for follow up shot and keeping your gun on target for better shot placement.
I find this to be true with me. If I shoot my HP frequently and then switch over to another gun, my shot placement is greatly improved.

Topheavy, yah it is but it grows on you like a good hangover and then you learn to like it because of all the fun you have with it.

Sorry to come off snobby, I generally like any gun.

No problem. I use to be the same about Glocks and still don't like Tauruses. The Taurus issue is from problems I had with them and Glock is a non issue any more.

   I  shot a HP .40 at the forest range. it had no kick really. it actually was comparable in size and feel to a ruger P series. felt top heavy to me and everything. pretty accurate for a $150 gun. i think just got a bad rep because it is way cheaper than big name brands and they need an excuse to charge an arm and a leg for their stuff.
i intend to get 1 for the car when my ship comes in!

Bummer on the trigger. That ones just a deal breaker for me. I didn't realize there was a grip safety, the one I was referring to is a model that has a 1911 style thumb safety. I thought I might just be looking into a plastic fantastic there for a minute!

To me it does not matter if the gun is plastic or metal. It does matter that it works well, and lasts. There are many plastic guns that fit this.

I know I nor any one else will get Michael T to like plastic ( particularly Glocks ) guns, but they do have a place in the field/work force.

Polymer is not an issue for me, neither is more than one safety. The deal breaker is the retarded trigger design, same thing with a Glock. I have fired lots of Glocks, bad grip angle, hate the trigger with a fiery passion. Just a poorly designed firearm from the ground up.
The XD felt more ergonomic than the Glock but still had that damn trigger. When I read that they were putting a 1911 style thumb safety on it, I was hoping they changed the trigger to go with it. THEN I would have been very interested.
So, I don't feel I have prejudged them. I tried them and they were found wanting.

the reason they put the 1911 style thumb safety on there service model is so they could compete for military contracts. so ive heard

the triger safety is not for everyone, and if it wasnt for the sweet single-action trigger pull on my XD i wouldnt like it. i had a... Glock  eehh! a few years ago and its trigger was horrible, not to mention it was plastic(yea the trigger, the one on the xd is metal), i shot one competition with it and promptly got rid of it. it took alot of convincing for me to try the xd out after that, cuz i thought is was just a glock nock-off, but it is far superior to the glock in almost every way, to me anyway. so I will be on the look out for an XD(m) when the prices come down, and maybe a few more chamberings are offered.

Well guys I am a FFl dealer and I own quite a bit of guns and have sold guns for a very long time. The XDM was brought out to have the market cornered against glock. As you all know glock .40 cal pistol had 15 round plus one. Well all the xd's had high cap mags but not more than the Glock .40 cal. So the specs and physical features are different but it was mainly to beat out glock on high caps. As everyone is aware glock magazines are interchangable. I could put a full size clip in a model 23 making is a sub compact pistol with 15 round plus 1. Well xd plans to do the same so you can make their sub compact and compact. I have both glock and XD and both are great guns, they really are. At this time Glock is still selling good but XD's are selling more due to thumb safteys now and the extra safteys that make family men and wimen feel comfortable having in their home. As for Michael - I'm sure everyone is intitled to their opinion however if you actually knew anything about guns which you obviously don't , Glock and XD are the number on selling guns to law inforcement and Agencys around the world. Money talks and it sells for a reason, no for the name but for the fact that you can shot thousands of rounds and not have to clean them and they will still shot. The action is loose like the AKs' so it will never jam. No other guns will test against a torture test, even if it is made of steel and wood, good luck cleaning and maintaining it in emergency situations. The Sig P220 went through a torture test that was pretty extreme and stood up to the punishment and still shot,so i would have to disagree with your statement that no other gun will stand up against a torture test.It has.Welcome to bersa talk.Now lets sit back and enjoy the show.
