Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?
Hi,
I have a Firestorm .380 that I like very much. It is comfortable, modern and reliable.

I am considering selling it, but want to continue to own a Bersa-platform .380 based on my experience with this one.
Would selling this Firestorm to buy a Bersa be an upgrade?
What advantages/disadvantages do you all see comparing the Bersa to the Firestorm variant?
Thank you very much for your advice,
Chipsndukes

Re: Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?
I see no reason to change for the name. In my (not so ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) ) humble opinion, the rear sight is better on the Firestorm and Academy only Bersas than the normal ones. I don't care for the rubber grips for a carry piece but that is easily swappable. Most important, you said it's reliable. Why risk getting another that needs a bunch of tweaking? It looks good. I say keep it.

Hi parrothead_madness, thank you for your reply.
Could you please elaborate on the above statement?
I assumed that the Bersa was a modern and reliable weapon that rarely, if ever, would require tweaking out of the box?
Thanks,

All things being equal I would prefer the Firestom trigger guard but I'm not gonna dump my Bersa for one...
Hey! maybe I should just go and add a Firestome to my collection.. Great idea thanks. Your welcome!

Re: Should I keep my Firestorm or get a Bersa?
Well, any numbers I give you are purely anecdotal, MOST Bersa .380's are reliable and dependable right from the start. This forum, being pretty much focused on the Bersa platform, draws people looking for answers and solutions to problems. A fair number of our members found Bersa Talk in just such a way. There are some .380's that do have issues and need to be tweaked, they typically are the same things. Some will exhibit failure to feed problems, often this is merely a backwards installed recoil spring, but not always. Some have issues with trigger linkage e-clips or disconnector springs. Again, the vast majority are fine (like yours) but why tempt fate? Like I said, yours has the better sights and is proven reliable. If you were to trade it for something completely different that would be fine if you chose to, but I wouldn't trade it just to have a Bersa branded one. Then again, I have a hard time parting with ANY gun, I just add more ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif) . So maybe you should just go buy a Bersa and have two. ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) EDIT TO ADD: This is post #1337, which makes me uber leet. All advice must be heeded. ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif) Non internet nerds may disregard this message.

Parrothead_madness, why do you prefer the white box to the dots?
Mason:All things being equal I would prefer the Firestom trigger guard but I'm not gonna dump my Bersa for one...
Mason, do you prefer the rounded trigger guard for aesthetic reasons?

I will search in the tech section for more information. Is the weapon 100% reliable, though, once tweaked?
Thanks very much,

Not so much the box over dots, I like the dovetailed drift adjustment better, it's a little more robust I think. It is what is on the larger Bersas as well. Is the weapon 100% reliable, though, once tweaked?
In almost every instance I would say yes.

I dont use the combat type trigger guard thats on the bersa. I place my week hand fore finger under the trigger guard and over my strong hand middle finger. So, its just in the way for conceal and holster selection. Its a very small issue for me however, if I had both a bersa and firestome laying in front of me I would take the one with out the combat trigger guard (Firestorm) But I'm not gonna kick one of my bersas outta bed for eating crackers

Now if you just want to get a Bersa so you can be a part of "BersaTalk", Just sent that old FS to me and I'll do the recycle thing for you and you'll have a reason to spent $200.00+ needlessly. Man, if it's reliable, keep it. Actually the name FIRESTORM calls up heroic measures don't cha think?

Thanks, Bill.

To be honest, I've only shot 150-200 rounds through it, but this compared well to my Bulgarian Makarov that needed a heavier recoil spring to feed properly.

The only other "Firestorm" I know is a 1911 copy from Llama that didn't inspire much confidence with workmanship, but I must say never missed a beat with cheap Wolf steel-cased ammo.

Have you heard about the new Firestorm 1911? Made by someone in the Phillipines, not Armscor though. Supposed to be milspec. I haven't had the pleasure of fondling one yet.
